Weekly Message from the Mayor

I am so proud of the hard work our city and its residents put in to prepare for last weekend’s powerful rainstorm. Thankfully, Moreno Valley avoided many of the storm-related issues our neighbors in Los Angeles and other cities suffered. We weathered the storm with just a few fallen trees and one flooded intersection. The city was proactive in its response, activating its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and Departmental Operations Center (DOC) the morning of Friday, Feb. 17 to manage the city's response to the storm. Public Works crews were on standby to respond to storm-related issues. Pelting rain and powerful winds can spook animals, causing them to run from their homes. Animal Services had staff on call to make sure our pets were safe during the storm. The Fire and Police Departments worked to ensure the safety of our residents. I would also like to thank the residents of Moreno Valley who listened to the warnings and picked up sandbags and sand to prevent their homes and properties from being damaged. We worked together as a team and it paid off.
