MORENO VALLEY>> The City of Moreno Valley will host its first Mayor's Cup Basketball Challenge Tournament Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Conference and Recreation Center. This tournament will match teams from the cities of Chino, Menifee, Perris, Rialto, Riverside and Moreno Valley. Teams will compete in a consolation style tournament to decide the best team in the Inland Empire. The event is free to attend and begins at 9 a.m. with the championship game scheduled to start at 4:30. The Conference and Recreation Center is located at 14075 Frederick Street in Moreno Valley. "As Mayor of Moreno Valley, I'm excited to announce the creation of the Mayor's Basketball Cup," said Moreno Valley Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez, in a previous City News Group article. "Many cities have been waiting for this, but now it will be a reality." Interested players and coaches participated in try outs at the end of August and prepared for the big day.
