On June 12, 2018, Music Changing Lives, a leading after school program in the field of music and art enrichment programs, received two grant awards totaling $18,500. The grants were awarded by the California Arts Council for the purpose of Arts Education.

Funding from the first award, totaling $13,500 will support the Changing Lives Showcase, a 21-week performing arts afterschool program, offered on five school campuses in Moreno Valley. The second award of $5000 was granted to assist the organization in their strategic planning and implementation. This year marks MCL's 20th anniversary and they want to ensure they can continue to serve children through the arts for at least another 20 years.

“We’re really honored and excited that our organization was selected for not one, but two awards. This funding is helping our children and youth in the community, and that’s what it’s all about. I’m really thankful to the CA Arts Council and also to Assemblymember Jose Medina for writing a letter of support on behalf of our programs. We’re just really grateful,” commented Josiah Bruny, Founder and CEO of Music Changing Lives.

“I am thrilled that Music Changing Lives has received these critical funds to grow its enrichment programs,” said Assemblymember Jose Medina. “This nonprofit organization provides Moreno Valley students access to arts and music education programs that help enrich their lives both in and out of the classroom. I am grateful for the service Music Changing Lives has provided to the youth in our community for the past 20 years and look forward to its continued growth over the next 20.”

The mission of Music Changing Lives is to offer the highest quality music and art enrichment programs to underprivileged and at-risk youth, between the ages of 5-19, helping them improve their chances of achieving a positive and successful future.
