MORENO VALLEY >> An improbable run to California Baptist University's first-ever NCAA national tournament appearance and even more impressive top-six finish in Division II was recently expanded upon.
For the first time in program history, the Lancers produced an NCAA All-American when PING released its Division II All-America Teams. CBU sophomore Kavan Eubank earned third-team distinction after all he accomplished for his team in 2015-16.
Eubank put together a postseason to remember for the Lancers. He took fourth individually at the PacWest Championships, third at the Division II West/South Central Regional and eighth at the D-II Championships. He had two more top 10 individual finishes this season, including going runner-up at the CBU Invitational.
The IMG Academy graduate bettered CBU's — and his own — single-season scoring average from 2014-15 (73.46) with a 72.28 this year. Twenty of his 36 rounds were completed at par or better.
Three other Lancers have earned All-American honors. Carl-Johan Stjarnfalt and Fredrik Hannson were both second teamers at the 2010 NAIA Championships, while Tim Tait accomplished the feat in the 2012 in the NCCAA.
