On May 31 the Moreno Valley Master Chorale presented a variety of popular “traveling tunes,” as they sang their way from coast to coast. Under the direction of Dr. Viorel Gheorghe, the Chorale performed several numbers including New York, New York, Chattanooga Choo Choo, Chicago, California Dreamin’, as well as selections from the musical “Oklahoma.” Throughout the concert, several Chorale members performed solos. Walt Glover crooned Moonlight in Vermont, followed by Stephanie Steele, and Jay Lossing singing their favorite “traveling” songs. In addition, the “Bach Street Boys” presented their rendition of California Girls. After intermission, the North Ridge Elementary Prime Time Singers were the Chorale’s featured guests. They traveled back in time to to sing several cowboy and pioneer tunes made popular by the settlers as they journeyed West. The guests sang seven songs, including Sweet Betsy from Pike, and I’m Going to Leave Old Texas Now. This performance by the Prime Time Singers was made possible by funding received from the Riverside Arts Council to promote musical programs for youth.
