Late last month, the Moreno Valley Elks honored their Most Valuable Student Scholarship Lodge winners with an awards dinner and program.
The five winners are the "Best of the Best" in all required application categories: test scores, grade point averages, employment and community service hours, honors and awards, leadership roles, extracurricular activities and essays.
Completing the Elks application was a challenge that these five students were able to meet.
Each student enjoyed dinner with guests, families and Elk members. Each student received a certificate and $300 toward their college or university costs in the fall.
Moreno Valley Elks Lodge is proud to honor these outstanding local seniors.
Joshua Trupp from Martin Luther King High School received an additional $800 toward his college expenses because his application was selected to go to State competition.
Founded in 1868, the national fraternal order has nearly 1 million members today with more than 2,000 lodges all over the. The charitable foundation is committed to giving back to its local communities and spreading charity, justice, love and fidelity, according to the organization's national website.
Alongside awarding scholarships, the Moreno Valley Elks Lodge also hosts bingo tournaments for fundraising purposes to help give back to the community.
