ComedySportz is competitive improvisational comedy, in which teams vie for audience laughs, which translate into points, and Canyon Springs’ brand new ComedySportz team is already making a name for itself, having won its first contest against King High School, before a supportive home crowd of about 100. The ComedySportz High School League is known to be the largest, most successful teen improv theatre program in the country. Theatre teacher Jen Dieffenbacher said, “Canyon Springs chartered a team as a way of training theatre students to be leaders, and teaching them amazing life skills. We hope it becomes a fixture on campus.” CSHS ComedySportz members are Sarah Pena, Tawanna Jackson, Sabrina Stark, Aaron Bryant, Kristina Reed, Jawdat Hantuli, Mackenzee Johnson and AJ Ballesteros. Next match is March 19.
