The latest crime statistics report shows that there has been an overall decrease in crime over the past five years in Moreno Valley, according to a 2017-18 report issued by the Criminal Justice Information Services Division of the FBI.

On February 25, 2019, the FBI’s semiannual crime report was released, which showed that “both violent crime and property crime in the first half of 2018” has declined in the United States compared to the first half of the previous year.

The report, which offers data from January 2018 through June 2018, contains data from over 14,000 law enforcement agencies in the U.S., including the city of Moreno Valley.

Comparing the FBI’s crime report from five years ago to its current release, the City of Moreno Valley has experienced an overall decrease in all 10 crime categories included in the report. The crime categories include violent crime, murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, property crime, burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft and arson.

In the past five years, one of the largest overall decreases in Moreno Valley’s crime was property crime. In 2014, Moreno Valley had 6,410 reports of property crime and in 2018, there was more than half a decrease to 2,933.
