Valley View High School (VVHS) students Camille Latzke, Keith Swiney, Ashley Corona, Malikah Saafir, and Daeja Slack missed a few days of school recently, but that doesn’t mean they missed out on an education. They were invited to attend the annual conference of California Association of African-American Superintendents and Administrators at Sacramento, where they attended informational presentations about public education in California, and got to meet statewide education leaders. A highlight of the trip was meeting Senior Judge Arthur Burnett, who became the first African-American Magistrate in the United States when he was appointed to the Superior Court of the District of Columbia in 1969. They also set aside some time to visit our beautiful state capitol building and take a few photos.
