The Moreno Valley Parks & Recreation Commission collected about 45 books for the Moreno Valley Youth Camp Kids at March ARB, during their last commission meeting.
Commission Chair James. C Baker II, visited the Youth Camp last year and asked the directors what the commission could do to help with the kids.
"We could use more books," one of the directors said, "so that the kids can continue to learn when the weather is too severe outside."
The commissioners were asked to gather reading books and bring them to their Sept. 11 meeting. Once there, the staff will go through the books and make sure they are appropriate and suitable for the kids. "We anticipated just a few books, but ended up with about 45," said Baker.
One second hand store off the 215 freeway, heard what the need was and sold five hard cover, good conditioned books for only 99 cents.
"It's always encouraging when people find out your trying to do something good, step up, and try to help out and give a little more," Baker said.
Congrats to the Youth Camp Kids and enjoy, compliments of the Parks & Recreation Commission.
