One hundred nine science educators from across the state will travel to Sacramento this spring in order to be trained as Instructional Materials Reviewers to vet science materials aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards. Among these will be MVUSD Professional Development Specialist Stacey Lerma.
In order to be nominated to this position, Lerma had to undergo a rigorous application process that included demonstrating content expertise and submitting multiple letters of reference. A former secondary science teacher with MVUSD for over a decade, Lerma joined the Professional Development Department to support the transition to the Next Generation Science Standards.
“I am humbled by my acceptance as a materials reviewer,” Lerma said, “and very excited for the opportunity to ensure that the materials approved by the state will best meet the needs of the students in Moreno Valley.”
