MVUSD, Community Now, City of Moreno Valley Team Upto Improve Student Safety

The Moreno Valley Unified School District, along with Community Now and the City of Moreno Valley, on Jan. 20 will dedicate a new walking trail at Morrison Park that will be used for a “Walking School Bus” for Moreno Elementary students. “Sometimes, the simplest ideas are the best ones,” explained Shor Denny, CEO of the non-profit Community Now, which coordinates the Safe Routes to School program. “The Walking School Bus is simply an escorted group of students. Parents can drop off their children at the park and know that they’ll be with Safe Routes volunteers and other students and will get to school safely.” Dedication of the new trail will take place Tues., Jan. 20 at 7:15 a.m. at Morrison Park, at the corner of Dracaea Ave. and Morrison St. The Morrison Park Walking School Bus will be available each Tuesday. More days could be added with more volunteer participation in the Safe Routes to School program.
