The New Life Baptist Church in Moreno Valley opened their doors to all and held a trunk or treat event on Oct. 31—Halloween—to provide children with a safe environment to celebrate Halloween.
The event kicked off at 7 p.m. in a secure section of the church parking lot where various vendors were set up to allow children the choice to trick-or-treat, move from vendor to vendor, or participate in a combination of both.
Festive activities included a Halloween costume contest, and food and refreshments like hot dogs, nachos and sweets were also available for enjoyment.
Dawn Gouvion, a New Life Baptist Church member and trunk or trick vendor, said she understands the importance of providing a safe and secure environment for children to have fun for Halloween.
“It is a safer alternative for the children to trick or treat versus having them out in the streets,” Gouvion said.
Gouvion was not the only church member who felt it was important to provide parents with a safe and secure atmosphere to take their children to celebrate Halloween.
Elvira Cores, a New Life Baptist Church member, commented that the event is meant to allow children to participate in the celebration of Halloween, but also allows their parents to feel secure knowing their children are safe.
