At its annual reorganization meeting, Tuesday, Dec. 8, the Moreno Valley Unified School District chose Jesús M. Holguín to serve as its president for the next 12 months. He assumed the presidency immediately.
In addition, the Board chose Dr. Denise Fleming to serve as vice president; C.J. Johnson will serve as Board clerk.
“I am honored by the trust shown in me by my colleagues,” Holguín said. “It’s a great time to be part of MVUSD in any capacity, let alone as president of the School Board. Our wonderful teachers, classified staff and district leadership team are some of California’s very best, and our continuing improvements in student academic achievement clearly demonstrate that.”
Holguín was first elected to the School Board in 2002, and most recently was re-elected in 2014.
He recently completed his one-year term as president of the California Schools Boards Association, representing the governing bodies of California’s nearly 1,000 school districts.
