Students and staff know what to do during and after a big earthquake, but what about parents? How will you reunite with your children? Phones may not work, so it's important that parents know beforehand what to expect. Each school has a plan in place, but it requires parents to do several important things: -Stay calm. School staff has said they will not hand over children to people who just yell the loudest. -Be patient. Staff will work as quickly as they can, but the first priority is student safety, not speed. -Bring ID. School officials must know that each student is leaving with the right adult. -Keep your emergency card information updated. We will not send a child away with someone who is not listed on the emergency card. After a big earthquake, it's vitally important that adults stay calm and set the right example for children.
