Moreno Valley Unified School District shared the recent success of the English Learners’ Families For College program at the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) Conference in San Diego this past weekend.
English Language Learners’ Director Lillia Villa, Board Member Jesús M. Holguín, Superintendent Dr. Martinrex Kedziora and Chief Academic Officer Maribel Mattox explained the district’s U.S. Department of Education Investing in Innovation i3 Grant and how it is dramatically accelerating academic language achievement and putting EL students on the path to college and career success.
The conference was attended by leaders of the nation's Hispanic-Serving institutions of K-12 education and higher education. Moreno Valley Unified is one of 11 districts in California that is a member of HACU as a Hispanic-Serving School District.
MVUSD was also able to support the attendance of 30 district parents and their students to the conference which included student-specific sessions and a college and career fair.
