Two teams each from Canyon Springs High School and Valley View High School advanced to the semi final rounds of the CyberPatriot national competition. The teams qualified for the semifinals after a 6 hour competition using 3 different operating systems, forensic questions and CISCO network challenges. The teams will compete in the semifinals on February 2.
The National Youth Cyber Defense Competition, which is the heart of the CyberPatriot program, puts teams of students in the position of newly hired IT professionals tasked with managing the network of a small company. Teams are given a set of virtual images that represent operating systems and have to find cyber security vulnerabilities within the images and harden the system while maintaining critical services.
“We are extremely proud of our Cyber Security programs and these four teams that will represent MVUSD at a national level,” said Board Vice President Cleveland Johnson, “Our CyberPatriot teams continue to excel as some of the very best in California and the nation.”
