The City of Moreno Valley received a 2025 Sustainability Award from the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) for its trailblazing “EVolution” fleet program. The award recognizes the City’s forward-thinking efforts in the Clean Cities: Alternative Fuels and Fleets category.
The EVolution Moreno Valley program focuses on the City’s zero-emissions fleet, currently the largest municipal fleet in Riverside County. Through strategic planning, bold investment, and strong environmental leadership, Moreno Valley is transforming its municipal fleet to be cleaner, more efficient, and more sustainable.
“We are honored to receive this recognition from SCAG,” said Mayor Ulises Cabrera. “The EVolution Moreno Valley program reflects our deep commitment to environmental leadership and innovation. Moreno Valley is proud to set the pace for sustainable fleet operations, and we will continue investing in cleaner technologies to benefit our community and future generations.”
Made possible in part by funding from California’s Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP), the program has helped the city acquire advanced clean vehicles while significantly reducing emissions. As part of the next phase of the program, Moreno Valley plans to expand its electric fleet even further and enhance its charging infrastructure to support future growth.
SCAG Sustainability Awards celebrate excellence in planning and implementation of projects that improve mobility, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and strengthen communities across Southern California. Moreno Valley’s recognition affirms its place at the forefront of municipal clean energy leadership.
