MVUSD Early Childhood preschool programs were recognized by representatives from Riverside County Office of Education for the program’s high quality achievements.
Representatives from RCOE Early Care and Education included Dr. Robin Fairfield, Executive Director; Candace Edwards, Coordinator; and Jennifer Beggs, Coordinator.
They were joined by MVUSD Board President Jesús Holguín, Superintendent Dr. Martinrex Kedziora, Chief Academic Officer Maribel Mattox, and Director of Elementary Education Carol Boyan-Held.
Serrano State Preschool was recognized for achieving a Tier 5 rating, the highest rating possible, and Seneca State Preschool was recognized for achieving a Tier 4 rating, the second highest rating possible. This rating is part of the Quality Rating Improvement System, a state and nationwide movement to improve the quality of early learning programs.
The rating is based on a matrix of multiple factors including student engagement and interaction, teacher professional development, classroom assessments, student-teacher ratio, and staff education levels.
Along with the recognition, the program was presented with a check for $35,000 to be used to further enhance the district’s state preschool program.
