Mayor of Moreno Valley, Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez wishes residents a safe and fun Halloween and includes safety tips for trick-or-treating.

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,  Halloween is next Monday, and all sorts of ghosts and goblins will soon be trick-or-treating across Moreno Valley neighborhoods. One of the best parts about growing up in Moreno Valley is seeing the city come alive during the spooky season. Houses turn into haunted mansions, and families come together to have a ghoulishly good time. Here are some Halloween tips to help your little ones have a safe evening: ·         Cross only at designated crosswalks ·         Look right, then left, and make eye contact with drivers before crossing the street ·         Carry glow sticks or flashlights so you can be seen more clearly by drivers ·         Always accompany your children to make sure their trick-or-treating is as safe and fun as possible ·         Make sure your children wear light-colored costumes so they can stand out in the dark If you’re driving on Halloween night, please make sure to go a bit slower and look out for children who are trick or treating. Take more time to see if anyone is in intersections, medians, and curbs, and be sure to exit or enter your driveway extra carefully in case any children are nearby. These safety tips will allow everyone to have a fun and memorable Halloween. And don’t forget to stop by our Day of the Dead celebration this Friday, October 28, at the Civic Center Amphitheater. I guarantee it will be an evening to remember!
