MORENO VALLEY>> While many are still talking about the presidential election, students in Susan Young’s class at Vista Heights Middle School probably understand that arcane system better than most eligible voters. The students, along with about 800 of their classmates at VHMS, took part in a mock election and their vote closely mirrored that of their fellow Californians as they overwhelmingly backed Clinton, voted to keep the death penalty and plastic grocery bags and to legalize marijuana. Young even registered as a candidate for president to help her students better understand the electoral process.
