Students of Valley View art teachers Michael Bernbaum and Cheryl Davis recently displayed their award-winning artwork at the Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival.
The exhibit, which was enjoyed by over 300,000 people, was a great and unique opportunity for the aspiring artists.
There were more than 300 entries in the High School Fine Arts division, and 18 Valley View students won awards in a variety of media categories including watercolor, pen and ink, collage, mixed media and sculpture.
First-place ribbons were awarded to Ranissa Glenns, Gabriel Somcio, Katelyn Seckman, Jimmy Flores, Alyana Pastor, Bryant Pinto, Marissa Duenez, Eduardo Chavez, Jacob Vang, Layla Othman and Gabriela Esquivel.
Second-place recognition was awarded to Jesus Diaz-Avalos, Manolo Ruiz, Imani Bell, Adrian Buenrostro, Adan Jimenez, Adrien Rancudo, and Deanna Tolento Navarro.
Best of Class in the sculpture category was awarded to Marissa Duenez for her exceptional abstract modular paper sculpture.
