Many children and their parents gathered together at the Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center over the weekend, to get first-hand experience with snow and meet Santa. For nearly six hours, children had the opportunity to experience the magic and joy the holiday season brings. Children ages 2 through 12 were able to experience "merry making" with games, crafts and breakfast with Santa Claus at the "winter wonderland" on Dec. 14. Emma Noriega and Natalie Franco were two Moreno Valley children that took part in some of the magic. "It's so much fun," the girls said. "I never get to see snow and now I finally have." Snow Day was possible thanks to sponsors that included Margarita's Grill, Armando's Mexican Restaurant, LOCO Burritos Pulidos, Wheels & Tires, American Automotive, Tio's Tacos #3, Toys+U, Taqueria Zacatecas, and the Moreno Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Children participated in various activities like bowling, a bean bag toss, a ring toss, face painting and arts and crafts. Event-goers also enjoyed live entertainment. Dancers performed numbers that kept parents entertained and helped in completing the magical day for the children. Performances included those from groups such as Hawaiian Dance, Folkloric Dance, Tara's Classes, Cheerleading, Zumba Kidz, Dancing Images, Canyon Springs Colorguard, Folkloric dance and live music. Dance moms Jennifer Lebron and Esther Contreras were there supporting their young daughter, Brianna Lebron and Josalin Contreras, who participated in providing the entertainment that morning. "It's wonderful getting to see your child up there doing her thing," Jennifer Lebron said. "And this event is just great. I think it's great how the city takes children into consideration." Josalin Contreras also agreed with the many other children that the event was "fun" and she said she enjoyed performing.
