Thirty-two individual students and twenty-one groups of students have moved on to the Riverside County contest.
The county and state levels are part of National History Day. Students select a historical topic that relates to the annual theme, and then conduct extensive research by using libraries, archives, museums, and oral history interviews. They analyze and interpret their findings, draw conclusions about the significance of their topics in history, and create final projects to present their work.
The competition begins at each school, winners then advance to the MVUSD district competition, and finally to the county level. The Riverside County winners advance to the state competition and state winners then advance to the national competition each year.
“This year was a little different,” said Superintendent Dr. Martinrex Kedziora. “We held this event virtually, but it was still a wonderful event that demonstrated our students’ skills and talent.”

“We are proud of the work done by all of the teachers and staff who helped prepare our students, as well as parents,” said School Board President Darrell Peeden. “Parents were a big part of this event this year as they supported their students through this project at home. It was challenging, but the end result was amazing.”
Congratulations to all of the student winners!
