California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO) awards the city of Moreno Valley.

The City of Moreno Valley is pleased to announce that the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO) has awarded the City its sought-after Innovation Award for the second year. This award recognizes innovation in public sector finance in accounting, budgeting, treasury, debt administration/issuance, procurement, risk management, and technology. The City received this coveted award for its response during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The City’s Financial and Management Services (FMS) Department developed an innovative accounting and timekeeping system to track costs across over 150 accounting funds and wages in ten different departments. These pioneering record-keeping practices allowed Moreno Valley to emerge from the pandemic stronger than ever and well ahead of most cities.  “Our dedicated Financial and Management Services team is the best in the business, and they’re well known for their innovation and adaptability in the face of unprecedented times,” said Mayor Ulises Cabrera. “This award solidifies that fact, and I congratulate our City staff for their hard work and dedication to the Moreno Valley community.” This is the second CSMFO award the City has received in the three years since the award was established.  For more information on the City of Moreno Valley’s award-winning Financial and Management Services team, visit moval.org/fms.
