Nine Moreno Valley Police Explorers graduated from the 20th Annual Explorer Academy, capping an intensive week of physical training, firearms instruction and other law enforcement education at the live-in academy.
The Moreno Valley Police Explorer Program provides young people between the ages of 14 and 21 a hands-on look at what a career in law enforcement is really like. Law Enforcement Exploring is a division of the Boy Scouts of America.
Officers Brooks, Moreno, Reilly and Willner train the police explorers throughout the year on everything from police-community relations and traffic stops to accident investigation and defensive driving techniques. Explorers also give back to the community through numerous volunteer efforts, including the Public Safety Expo, the Fourth of July parade and Family FunFest, and National Night Out.
20th Annual Explorer Academy Graduates from the Moreno Valley Police Department:
Arkel Brown, Mercedes Flores, Maria Gallardo, Angel Gonzalez, Hanna Gouvion, Anthony Munguia, Miranda Murrillo, Zachary Navarro, Kennia Rainey, Goretti Romero, Stedany Sevilla.
Explorer Arkel Brown was awarded the Academy’s Top Physical Fitness Award, and Explorer Zachery Navarro was awarded the Overall Achievement Award. Congratulations to these young men and women on their achievement and continued dedication to serving our community.
