Canyon Springs High School Junior Tarra Meschi.

Tarra Meschi, a junior at Canyon Springs, recently earned the highest recognition in Girl Scouting: The Gold Award. Girl Scouts says, “This prestigious award challenges you to change the world — or at least your corner of it.” Tarra changed her corner of the world by creating an additional training program for CSHS students involved with the Golden Bell Award-winning Charter Hospice partnership, in which students provide company and comfort to dying hospice patients. Tarra noticed that students were sometimes uncomfortable interacting with patients, so she created the Hospice Interaction Training Course to teach students some all-important “bedside manner” techniques that can make patients’ final days more comfortable. What a wonderful change to that “corner of the world.”
