Mayor's Message: Census

By Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

Given the year we’ve had so far in 2020, you may have missed the fact that it’s a federal Census year.  Every 10 years, the Census Bureau tries its best to take an accurate count of everyone residing in the United States.  The data it collects is used to help determine how federal funds are dispersed for critically important services such as public schools, public safety, hospitals, social services, roads and more.

As Mayor of Moreno Valley, I ask that all residents – one adult per household -- take five minutes to go online and complete the census at www.census.gov.

You will not be asked any question about citizenship or immigration status.  And by federal law, the Census Bureau is not allowed to share personal data with any other government agency, law enforcement, immigration officials or landlords.

At last report, an estimated 62 percent of MoVal residents had been counted.  Those federal funds will go somewhere else if not to our community.  Please go online and be counted to help make sure we in Moreno Valley get our fair share!
