Mayor's Message: COVID Vaccination

By Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley
March 11, 2021 at 02:53pm. Views: 37

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

After weeks of working with Riverside County and advocating for a mass-vaccination site to be located in Moreno Valley, the City Council and I are pleased that the county finally opened one this week at the old Sears building at Moreno Valley Mall. You can find a comprehensive list of MoVal vaccine providers on the City’s website at www.moval.org/vaccine.

Local demand for the vaccine is high, which is a good thing. While it may be frustrating at times trying to secure a vaccination appointment, it’s a sign that residents are serious about doing what it takes to get out in front of the virus and stop its spread once and for all. Controlling the virus is the key to reopening schools and businesses and rebuilding our economy.

I urge all adults to get vaccinated when it’s your turn. Even with a vaccination, however, we still need to take proper precautions, including masking, distancing and hand-washing – along with and testing for the yet-to-be-vaccinated -- to avoid spreading the virus, until science tells us otherwise. The worst thing we could do is stop running the race before crossing the finish line. Let’s finish strong. Let’s get vaccinated.
