Mayor's Message MoVal Meals

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

Since the start of the coronavirus crisis, we've worked to address the issue of food insecurity in our community.

We got stores to establish priority shopping times for vulnerable senior and disabled residents. We created MoVal Meals, which helps 500 vulnerable residents stretch their food budgets each week, and the new Senior Eats program, which delivers local restaurant meals each day to 150 vulnerable residents, thus helping local businesses, too.

And this Friday, May 22, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the City's Conference & Recreation Center (CRC), we're partnering with the non-profit organization Feeding America to bring a food-distribution event to Moreno Valley open to anyone in need. Feeding America, an organization of more than 200 food banks nationwide, plans to serve 600-800 cars in a drive-thru fashion at the CRC parking lot. Each car will receive one emergency box full of shelf-stable items, which may contain soup, pasta, canned vegetables, beans, peanut butter, cereal, snacks, and, if available, fresh produce.

Each and every day, your City government delivers critical public services, and right now, making sure residents have enough to eat is one of those services.
