Mayor's Message: Our Beautiful Parks

By Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

July is National Parks & Recreation Month, and a great time to appreciate our City’s system of 32 beautiful parks, including two skate parks, a golf course, a dog park, an equestrian center, four community centers and a senior center.  Later this year, we’ll add another beautiful public facility to that list when we cut the ribbon on the brand new Santiago Park next to March Middle School.

As Mayor, I’m always so pleased when residents tell me how well maintained our parks are.  That’s due to both a dedicated City maintenance staff and residents taking care of the parks they use.  And that community care really helps, as parks maintenance is a big job.  MoVal’s Parks & Community Services Department is responsible for 528 acres of City park land, and manages more than 15 miles of multi-use trails, adding another 91 acres to their area of responsibility.

Moreno Valley’s beautiful parks are open on a limited basis during the heightened coronavirus restrictions.  While high-touch facilities like playgrounds and picnic tables are closed for now, all open spaces and trails are available with appropriate distancing and masks.  Please visit Parks & Community Services online at www.moval.org/parks-comm-svc for more information, and your local park for some well-deserved exercise and relaxation.
