Mayor's Message: Virtual Tree-Lighting

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

Our City prides itself on the many popular public events we sponsor throughout the year.  Of course, in 2020, some events have had to be suspended while we continue to battle the spread of this virus.  But others, such as our Memorial and Veterans Day events and summertime’s MoVal Movies, have gone forward either virtually or with health modifications.  Such is the case this year with our always-popular Holiday Tree-Lighting Ceremony at City Hall.

I hope you will join me this Saturday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m. as we light the City’s beautiful holiday tree.  For safety, we cannot gather a crowd.  Instead, I will light the tree remotely, and you can watch the whole event online on Facebook and YouTube, and on cable channel MV3.

Although we cannot invite the community to attend a lighting event, residents are welcome to come to City Hall any time from Saturday through New Year’s Day to see the tree and get photos.

In keeping with the old saying that it’s always darkest just before dawn, I believe we will get through this current virus surge and get control of the pandemic in 2021 if we all take proper precautions from now on.  And as soon as it is under control, we will begin to schedule our popular community events to take place in person once again.
