Mayor's Weekly Message: Do the Right Thing for Pets

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

In addition to serving as Mayor of Moreno Valley, I am also the devoted human companion of two dogs, Kayla and Lassie. We met thanks to the MoVal Animal Shelter. Before I brought them home from the Shelter, I had each of them spayed to prevent unwanted litters. Spaying and neutering of cats and dogs is mandatory in Moreno Valley. It wasn’t cheap, but it was the right thing to do for them.

Right now, but for a limited time, spaying/neutering is FREE at the Animal Shelter. This offer will last until the owners of 200 dogs and cats have claimed spay/neuter vouchers and have scheduled the procedures. Due to virus concerns, the Shelter is open by appointment only to claim a voucher. To make an appointment, call 951-413-3790, Tuesday – Friday, 10:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., or on Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Our cats and dogs have no regrets about missing out on parenthood, and they can’t call for help if they get lost or injured. It’s up to us, their trusted humans, to make these important decisions for them. And the time to do it couldn’t be any better than right now.
