Dear Moreno Valley Residents,
Dr. Martin Luther King famously said, “If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl. But whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.”
“Moving Forward” is the theme for my State of the City address this Thursday. This traditional annual event is itself an example of my point that, even though 2020 has been the most difficult year most of us have ever experienced, our City has found ways to keep moving forward. Normally a large sit-down luncheon affair, this year’s State of the City instead will take place virtually, with my remarks streaming at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 20, via the City’s Facebook, YouTube and cable channel MV3. If you can’t catch it live, I hope you’ll watch a replay when it’s more convenient for you.
I believe that adversity reveals character. And both our City government and the community it serves are revealing their true strength of character every day as we respond to each new challenge that confronts us. Working together during this crisis, we have achieved some remarkable victories.
