 Riverside County Board of Education Trustee, Jamie Azpeitia-Sachs Announces Campaign to Pursue Full Term.

Jamie Azpeitia-Sachs was appointed in January 2023 and has secured key endorsements from Congressman Mark Takano, California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, Riverside County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Edwin Gomez, Western Municipal Water District Mike Gardner, former State Assemblymember Jose Medina, former Riverside County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Judy White, Community Leaders Rose Mayes and Dr. Kathy Wright, the Inland Empire Labor Council, Riverside City Firefighters Association, Riverside County Teachers Association, Board of Education & City Council Members from; Long Beach, Colton, San Bernardino, Mountain View, Riverside and many more!

 

Moreno Valley, CA – Trustee Jamie Azpeitia-Sachs has announced she will seek a full-term on the Riverside County Board of Education, to continue representing Trustee Area 3 which represents portions of the Moreno Valley, Riverside and Val Verde Unified School District’s.

“It is such an honor to serve the community at this level. I look forward to continuing to be a voice for all students within Trustee Area 3,” stated Trustee Azpeitia-Sachs. “I will continue advocating for students and educators within the community to ensure their needs are met. Rather it being education or mental health, I want to be there for them and to assist in providing a solid foundation for generations to come. As the daughter of a public-school educator, Mother of 5 that have all gone through our public education system, I understand the needs of students, parents and educators. My daughter is an alumnus of Castle View Elementary and my husband works in public school safety so, I certainly understand how paramount school safety is. In addition to the safety of our campuses, I will continue advocating for opportunities in CTE, higher education, workforce development, teacher incentives and financial literacy for our students and graduates.”

 

Trustee Azpeitia-Sachs is the first African American Woman to serve on the Riverside County Board of Education. She was appointed out of ten applicants on January 10, 2023 after a vacancy was announced due to the election of Dr. Corey Jackson to the California State Assembly. Jamie has garnered support from local & state officials as well as Teachers, Firefighters, Labor Unions within the Inland Empire including the Southwest Carpenters Local Union 951, IBEW Local 440 and the Inland Empire Labor Council.

 

Since 2010, Trustee Azpeitia-Sachs has led the Inland Empire Contemporary Ballet as their Artistic Director. Through the Apprenticeship program, 70+ low-income students from various Inland Empire communities went on to receive higher education degrees and workforce opportunities. In addition to being a mother, wife and dance educator, she is a small business owner, grant writer, nonprofit and small business consultant; she is the founder of the critically acclaimed Inland Empire Dance Festival; which brings professional dance companies into the Inland Empire region. Jamie has taught Dance, and injury prevention for the Riverside Unified School District’s Enrichment Program and the Riverside Arts Council. Through her passion for the arts education of children and children with special needs, she created “Ballet Buddies” and scholarships for low income & military family students throughout the Inland Empire.

 

The Riverside County Board of Education consists of seven members who represent the seven trustee areas of the county. Board members are elected to a four-year term by the voters within their respective trustee areas. The Riverside County Board of Education operates under authority of the California Constitution, the State Legislature, the State Education Code, and the State Board of Education.
