A group of about 100 students from Moreno Valley Unified School District middle and high schools participated in the Young Men of Color conference on Saturday at Loyola Marymount University. The group was accompanied by district leaders including Darryl Scott, Craig Givens, Rhodes Williams, Anthony Thomas, Richard Williams, Deshawn Ray, Preston Banks, Dave Halloway, Theodore Brown, Entropy Mond and Dwight Lee.

Presentations at the conference covered topics of importance in the development of young men with an emphasis on strong character and good decision making. Sessions included "Hands in pockets, not behind your back", which addressed the issue of Teen Dating Violence, and Domestic Abuse among African American teenagers; Respecting Authority, and Embracing your Heritage; "The Importance of Your Digital Brand;” and Brother to Brother: It Takes a Village.”

We are proud of all of the participants in this event as we continue our work to Champion Equity.
