MVUSD High School Orators Bring Home Honors

They came, they spoke and they did really, really well. Students from Canyon Springs and Valley View came away with honors at the recent Dr. Dina Stallings Speech Competition, named for the late nationally recognized speech and debate professor from Riverside City College. The fledgling CSHS Speech and Debate Team, with just five weeks of preparation by coaches Dougie Douglas and Joel Washburn, brought home the second-place team trophy. Individual honors went to Courtney Dillard, Nathan San Filippo and Alex Meza. Under the direction of Nicole Cross, the Valley View team, pictured here, also did well, with individual honors going to Tamareae Wofford, Jennifer Olea and Hector Ultreras.
