Fifty-One Students From Riverside County Advance to National History Day-California Competition

Students in grades 4-12 were honored for their historical research projects at the 2016 Riverside County History Day Competition. Dozens of award-winning entries from students in 4th and 5th grade, junior (grades 6-8) and senior (grades 9-12) divisions were honored at the Riverside County History Day Competition held at Arlington High School on Saturday, March 12, 2016. The first and second place finishers in the junior division, and all winners in 4th and 5th grade and senior divisions, advance to the National History Day-California State Competition in Rocklin on May 6-7, 2016. From the state competition, winners advance to the National History Day Competition, June 12-16, 2016, at the University of Maryland, College Park. Featuring the 2016 theme of “Exploration, Encounter, Exchange in History,” the county’s annual National History Day competition featured a record number of participants including 185 entries from 326 students from across the region.
