Major Plans for the Landmark "M"

The landmark "M" is in store for some major changes in the years to come. Moreno Valley residents were able to enjoy the holiday illumination for a second year in a row. The lights came on this year on Dec. 3, to coincide with the City's 30th Anniversary Celebration, and remained lit through Jan. 3, 2015. "We are now in position to illuminate the Landmark for the next 5 years," says Moreno Valley Parks & Recreation Commissioner James C. Baker II. The "M" Landmark Improvement Project, a Community Organization led by Baker, successfully worked toward getting the "M" cleaned, painted and illuminated in 2013. "We've received such a favorable response from residents, local officials, and surrounding cities, it was almost a "no-brainer" to take it to the next step," said Baker. We even had photos taken from the Riverside PD Support Copter Unit 1, that took some spectacular aerial shots. By working with the County, Noon Rotary Club, and local business supporters, Baker and his team are looking to improve the Yearly Light Display with permanent fixtures and hook-ups. "We were especially fortunate this year due to the timely snow storm last week, while the lights were shinning. The results produced some remarkable photo shots." "Look forward to an even more impressive display next year, as we will be making improvements on the types of lights we use and adjusting the alignments. And there may be a few more surprises forthcoming," Baker said. Happy 2015 Moreno Valley, see you next year.
