Moreno Valley Unified School District is proud to announce the selection of Chief Business Official Mays Kakish by the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) as Region 19 administrator of the year in the Business Services Administrator category. Kakish has served with MVUSD since 2011. As Chief Business Official, she is responsible for the district’s Business Services division, which includes Accounting, Purchasing, Information Systems, Nutrition Services, Risk Management, Maintenance and Operations, Transportation and the Facilities departments. She oversees the district’s $450 million budget, ensuring that MVUSD remains fiscally solvent, and that all funds are aligned with district objectives, which are focused on student academic achievement. In November 2014, Kakish led the successful effort to win voter approval of Measure M, the district’s $398 million construction bond measure, which will allow for important safety and instructional improvements at schools district-wide. In addition, Kakish currently serves as president of the ACSA Business Council, which represents the concerns of school district business officials from all of California’s school districts. This is her second award for ACSA Region 19 administrator of the year in the Business Services Administrator category. Her first was in 2010, while serving as an assistant superintendent for Beaumont Unified School District.
