The Salvation Army Moreno Valley Corps Community Center will host a Community Appreciation Dinner at Sun Lakes Country Club in Banning on Saturday, Oct. 11. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m. and the program begins at 6 p.m. The event will honor Mr. Art Welch, Banning City Councilmember, for 20 years of distinguished community service in the Pass Area. Throughout his years in the San Gorgonio Pass Area Welch has been actively involved in both civic and governmental affairs. He currently serves on various boards and committees that aim to enhance the quality of life in his community. Additionally, in 2012 he was instrumental in bringing The Salvation Army’s programs and services to the Pass Area. The Community Appreciation Dinner will also raise funds for The Salvation Army’s Mobile Food Pantry. The Salvation Army now operates a Mobile Food Pantry at the Banning Community Center. Every Thursday this program exclusively serves the cities of Banning, Beaumont, Cabazon, Cherry Valley, Morongo and other smaller neighboring communities. Funds are needed to help purchase food and other operational needs for this program. Tickets are $35 per person. Tickets can be purchased at https://events.usawest.org. For sponsorship information call 951-653-9131 or e-mail julius.murphy@usw.salvationarmy.org.
