Construction has begun to replace water pipelines along San Timoteo Canyon Road and on Fern Avenue and is expected to last through the end of June. This road links Redlands to Moreno Valley. At their April 15 meeting, the Redlands City Council awarded a $364,000 construction contract for the Fern Avenue and San Timoteo Canyon Road Water Pipeline Replacement project to Pacific Utilities Installation, Inc. of Anaheim. The project is funded by water revenues, and no General Fund dollars will be used to construct this project. The project was designed and will be managed by the City of Redlands Municipal Utilities and Engineering Department. Construction began on May 13 and is anticipated to last through the end of June. The project will install new pipelines on San Timoteo Canyon Road between Fern Avenue and Beaumont Avenue, and on Fern Avenue between San Timoteo Canyon Road and Terracina Boulevard. The northbound traffic lane on San Timoteo Canyon Road from Fern Avenue to Beaumont Avenue will be closed through June 27 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Fern Avenue will be closed to through traffic between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. from June 16 to June 27. During this time, traffic will be detoured to Terracina Boulevard via Barton Road. Parking will be restricted on both Fern Avenue and San Timoteo Canyon Road during construction. However, residents will have access to their properties at all times.
