MORENO VALLEY >> In an ongoing effort to speed adoption of homeless pets, the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter recently hired Margret Linne as its first Animal Rescue Coordinator. The Moreno Valley City Council created this new position in January to work with rescue groups and local residents to significantly increase placement of homeless pets and reduce the euthanasia rate at the Animal Shelter. Linne works closely with numerous animal rescue organizations as well as individuals both locally and nationally to speed adoption of the community's homeless pets. Linne is currently working with the ASPCA's Animal Relocation staff to transport homeless dogs and cats from the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter to other regions throughout the United States where the demand for healthy and adoptable pets is high. The first ASPCA transport which occurred at 5 a.m. on May 5 included seven dogs who were transported to the Los Angeles airport with their final destination for adoption at the Humane Society in Seattle. After working at Moreno Valley's Animal Shelter over the past 14 years both as an Animal Care Technician and Animal Services Assistant, Linne hit the ground running and is excited to help more homeless pets get a second chance at finding their forever homes. Linne lives in Moreno Valley with her husband, four children, and their two dogs that they adopted from the Animal Shelter. The Moreno Valley Animal Shelter has the perfect pet for every home. Dogs, cats, and even rare exotic pets are waiting to meet you, and ready to join your family. For more information about how you can help homeless pets in the community, contact the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter at (951) 413-3790.
