The Bulky Waste Clean Up event, held on Saturday, Feb. 25, gave Moreno Valley residents the chance to do a little spring cleaning.
The event kicked off at 8 a.m. at Vista Del Lago High School. Residents were encouraged to drop off large unwanted furniture, such as old washing machines, dryers, mattresses, and more.
Organized by the City of Moreno Valley and Waste Management, the Bulky Waste Cleanup event is part of the Keep Moreno Valley Beautiful, or KMVB, initiative. The program is meant to help keep Moreno Valley cleaner by helping residents to properly dispose of waste.
Residents simply had to show their ID or proof of residency and be prepared to unload the materials themselves. The rest was taken care of by Waste Management.
Moreno Valley’s Bulky Waste Clean Up event coincided with Moreno Valley’s first ever Community Day of Service, a volunteer effort in which members of the community came out to clean up Hidden Springs Park and the dug outs and community center at March Air Field Base. This meant that Moreno Valley received a double dose of spring cleaning, inside and out.
Residents wishing to unload their large appliances can still do so by contacting their local Waste Management. Please visit www.moval.org for a full list of acceptable and unacceptable drop off items.
