Organizers are expecting a record turnout for this year’s 2nd Annual HOPE Conference set for Saturday, Aug. 9, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Vista del Lago High School.
HOPE stands for Hanging Onto Positive Expectations, and is about inspiring our African-American youth to be the best they can be. This is a free event.
The conference, organized by the Moreno Valley Unified School District African-American Advisory Council, will feature a free continental breakfast, a variety of informative workshops, a resource fair and even some fun giveaways. MVUSD Superintendent Dr. Judy D. White will deliver the conference keynote address.
“Our focus is to partner with parents, families, community organizations, businesses and educators to ensure that African-American students are able to maximize their potential,” said Lisa Broomfield, one of the HOPE Conference organizers. “It’s about student and family empowerment.”
Although response has been strong, you can still register online to attend this outstanding annual event. Go to www.mvusd.net/forms/hope_con/2014.
Vista del Lago High School is located at 15150 Lasselle St. in Moreno Valley.
