Community Partners Honored with Holiday Reception

More than 100 community partners, representing private businesses, public agencies and faith communities, all of whom are Adopt-a-School partners, support the Moreno Valley Unified schools with their time and resources. Many recently received some thanks at a holiday reception in their honor from principals, school board members and Superintendent Dr. Judy D. White. Adopt-a-School is designed to develop a long-term relationship between a specific business and a specific school that leads to greater understanding of, and support for, public education, while giving educators an awareness of the needs of the business world. Some of the ways businesses can support a school that they have adopted includes: participating in a formal adoption ceremony, attend assemblies and shake hands of students as you congratulate them for their accomplishment, participate in either Open House or Staff Appreciation Weeks by showing the staff that your business appreciates their contributions, volunteer on Career Day by sharing your personal career journey or business, attend an athletic event, school talent show or portfolio presentation, llow students to write to you for authentic purposeful letter writing and more. For more information about Adopt-a-School, visit www.mvusd.net.
