MORENO VALLEY>> The City of Moreno Valley has recently named police officer Dawn Gouvion as Police Officer of the Quarter, for the fourth quarter of 2016.

Gouvion is a roving school resource officer and is the host of anti-drug and anti-bully campaigns all over the district. She was honored for the leadership she demonstrates to her fellow resource officers.

Gouvion, who grew up in neighborhood full of gangs, uses her own story to inspire the students she meets on a daily basis. Her arrest and subsequent identification of several gang members has even led to the prevention of a new gang being formed.

Gouvion has since then served as mentor to at-risk youth.

Gouvion is also in the process of creating an emergency response plan for the Moreno Valley Unified School District. Her plan, which will include pictures and important information from the school district sites, will exist as a mobile app that will send an immediate alert to any officers or patrol cars in the area. This will greatly aid first responders in the event that there is a crisis.

For more information about the Police Officer of the Quarter naming ceremony, visit the Moreno Valley Police Department website at www. http://www.moreno-valley.ca.us/city_hall/departments/police/index-police.shtml.
