MORENO VALLEY>> A veteran administrator with almost 30 years of experience at Moreno Valley Unified School District, Maribel Mattox was formally appointed by the School Board on Tuesday, Feb. 14 to serve as Chief Academic Officer full time. Before serving as the interim Chief Academic Officer for MVUSD, Mattox most recently served as Director of Secondary Education since 2013. The appointment was necessary to fill the CAO position previously held by Dr. Martinrex Kedziora, who now serves as district superintendent. “One of the School Board’s priorities has been to build leadership capacity within the ranks of our own school district,” explained Kedziora. “With her length and breadth of service at just about every level at MVUSD, Maribel Mattox was a natural fit to step into this position without the district missing a beat.” Mattox was a bilingual classroom teacher at several school districts from the mid-1970s to the early 1990s. Since then, she has burnished her administrative credentials, serving as a coordinator for various district programs, and as assistant principal and principal at both the elementary and secondary levels. She was principal at Moreno Valley High School from 2005 – 2012.
