The Morning Optimist Club of Moreno Valley will present letterman jackets to worthy Moreno Valley High School student athletes at the Nov. 12 meeting of the Moreno Valley Unified School District (MVUSD) Board. The meeting is slated to begin at 6 p. m. The Morning Optimist Club of Moreno Valley has been soliciting donations for approximately one year to fund jackets for students who cannot afford them. Six letterman jackets were presented at a MVUSD School Board meeting last June and an additional seven will be presented at the upcoming meeting. According to Tim Caszett, president of the Optimist Club, the Club continues to fundraise for additional jackets to keep the program going. It is hoped that at some point the program can be expanded to include additional high schools including Rancho Verde High School, which is in the Val Verde Unified School District.
