Honoring Our Military: Deadline Approaching for Banner and Paver Program

The city of Moreno Valley proudly installs military appreciation banners and pavers that display residents' names, photos, and branches of service, in support of our local military personnel. With this program, the city hopes to help preserve the sense of patriotism and pride in those who serve in the United States military throughout our community. Our goal is to honor and recognize those men and women who have served in the past or are currently serving, whether defending the home front or serving overseas. Though applications may be submitted any time, the city is currently accepting banner and paver installation orders from the community for installation by the Veterans' Day Ceremony. Applications are due by Oct. 16 for a Veteran's Day installation. Qualifications for a banner include honorees who: • Are active duty military service personnel who are residents of Moreno Valley; and • Have immediate family residing in Moreno Valley; or • Have graduated from a Moreno Valley high school. The Military Banner Program is partially sponsored by the Moreno Valley Chamber of Commerce's Military Affairs Committee. As a result of their contribution, the total cost remaining cost for a banner to be created and installed on a city street light pole is $100. Pavers purchased through the Military Pavers Program are located around the Moreno Valley Veterans Memorial and are inscribed with the name of military veterans and active duty service personnel and the branch of service. The nominee must be currently serving or have served in the U.S. military or with a U.S. ally. The cost is $200.
